Finding The Strength To Heal is a short film describing the healing journeys of survivors of sexual assault and other forms of sexual violence based on research conducted by one of our team members, Dr. Laura Sinko. This video discusses the stories of four of the survivors interviewed through her work using actresses as surrogate speakers to protect their confidentiality. We believe in the power of storytelling and we hope that these survivors’ stories provide hope that healing, while being a difficult process, is truly possible in time.
Dear viewer,
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch our film. Whether you are a survivor, supporter of a survivor, service provider, or ally, please know that your engagement with our site is very much appreciated.
According to the CDC, more than 1 in 3 women and nearly 1 in 4 men have experienced sexual violence involving physical contact at some point in their lives. Survivors are everywhere, but we do not always recognize it. We know that healing is possible, but our interactions and the environments we create really do matter.
To survivors: thank you for allowing yourselves to be vulnerable and engaging with our site today. I really hope that, if nothing else, this video reminds you of your capability and strength. You matter and your story is important.
Thank you again for devoting your time to better understand this important issue. You give me hope for a future without violence. Until then, together we can create a more supportive healing world for survivors.
With gratitude,
Laura Sinko
